Walk this way ……….. along some of the former ropewalks to experience layers of city history and cultures which commercial trade brought to the city and changes to the landscape which are still occurring through regeneration.
Walking around this vibrant and diverse area, we will see an urban landscape spanning the 18th—21st centuries. Part of our route goes through a UNESCO World Heritage Site area, providing an outstanding example of a Maritime, Mercantile City which became so important in the history of Great Britain. We will experience layers of city history and cultures which commercial trade brought to the city and changes to the landscape which are still occurring through regeneration.
Highlights include a visit to the oldest building in the city centre, the oldest Chinatown in Europe and see the magnificent Chinese Arch. We will also visit some iconic night clubs; one with a strong Beatles connection and another in a former church!
